Christina Maximoff was born in Saint Petersburg from a Russian mother and an Ugandan father in 1976. She studied art and art history in various cities: Saint Petersburg, Brussels, New York and London where she completed her studies at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

She now lives and works in London and Paris
